Political Information Politics Home

We encourage you to see a new website devoted to helping everyone really determine what political party they are most alligned with. See: PlatformRepublican.Com The site is dedicated to educating you on how we got here and what our founding fathers really intended.

Are you a Democrat or a Republican? Have you ever taken a look at the beliefs of your party?

Here is a review of what the two major parties "believe" and stand for. See which one best fits your belief system.

Democrats and Republicans both have a document that defines what each believe.
That word "believe" is supposed to be actually what they believe. It is what that
party promotes and requires their elected officials and members to promote.
It really is important that you believe most of what the party stands for and can
accept what the party believes that you can tolerate. I think it would be rare for someone
to actively believe everything the party takes a stance on.

Because this is very abbreviated, and to review the accuracy of the data here,  please see the original documents. They can be found here:

Oklahoma Republican Platform can be found here.

National Democrat Platform can be found here.

State Democratic Platform can be found here.

Wagoner County Republican Abbreviated View of the Republican Party A great quick view of their stance.

It is quite helpful to actually read the platforms. You will get a real feel for the difference between the two parties. You will find dramatic differences. You will get a sense of the wording used. Do you feel it is missleading or straight forward. Even if you are convinced you are one or the other it is worth your time to read these.

Click the button beside the one you agree with. Then, check the score at the bottom.

Democrats

We support privatization of the Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid programs. We support the development of a truly market-driven, health care delivery system that replaces the employer and governmental third party payment systems. We support allowing individuals, private groups, and/or small businesses, the freedom to form collective purchasing groups for the purpose of acquiring the healthcare of their choice. We support equal availability and access to a universal, comprehensive and affordable physical and mental health care system for all Oklahomans with government assistance for those who could not otherwise afford it. This would include, but not be limited to substance abuse treatment, preventative care and prescription medication.
It is the right of every parent to act in his or her children’s best interest including choosing the form of education, whether public school, private school, or home school. We oppose vouchers regardless of descriptors that would divert resources committed to public schools to private institutions.
God is the Author and Creator of life and that all human life, both born and unborn, should be protected. The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman’s right to choose a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay, and we oppose any and all efforts to weaken or undermine that right.
In traditional marriage consisting of one man and one woman. Support civil marriage for same sex couples.
We support the right under the Second Amendment for Americans to keep and bear arms; therefore, we oppose any attempts, whether by law or regulation at any level of government, to restrict any law-abiding citizen’s right to keep and bear arms, or which would restrict access to ammunition, or record the purchase thereof. We also oppose any federal taxation on firearms or ammunition. We recognize that the right to bear arms is an important part of the American tradition, and we will preserve Americans’ Second Amendment right to own and use firearms. We believe that the right to own firearms is subject to reasonable regulation, but we know that what works in Chicago may not work in Cheyenne. We can work together to enact and enforce commonsense laws and improvements – like closing the gun show loophole, improving our background check system, and reinstating the assault weapons ban, so that guns do not fall into the hands of terrorists or criminals. Acting responsibly and with respect for differing views on this issue, we can both protect the constitutional right to bear arms and keep our communities and our children safe.
We should welcome immigrants who want to legally seek freedom and opportunity, who want to work for a living and who will embrace our values, learn the English language, and respect our national sovereignty. For the millions living here illegally but otherwise playing by the rules, we must require them to come out of the shadows and get right with the law. We support a system that requires undocumented immigrants who are in good standing to pay a fine, pay taxes, learn English, and go to the back of the line for the opportunity to become citizens.
Here are some generally accepted differences I don't see itemized in the platforms.
Against Card Check - Unions should not be allowed to force open voting when trying to get a union into a company. For Card Check - Favors unions in allowing forced open voting to get unions into a company.
Against Carbon Credits or Cap and Trade to force companies to pay for carbon emissions. This is an effort to help mitigate Global Warming. In favor of Carbon Credits or Cap and Trade to force companies to pay for carbon emissions. This is an effort to help mitigate Global Warming.
For a drill here, drill now policy to responsibly open up oil and gas energy production in the US. Against opening up any further drilling to produce US based oil and gas.
