Getting politically involved.
Getting involved is actually simpler than you might think. The really good part is that is can be a great deal of fun. You will meet people that you will probably like. You will learn quiet a bit about how our government works and how it should work.
Here is a process that can be easy and quite engaging.
- Click here to take the party test. What political party do you fit in. This can be an eye opener.
- Register to vote. Click here for a full description and downloadable form. You may not change your political affiliation during the period from June 1 through August 31, inclusive, in any even-numbered year.
- Join a local political party.
- Attend meetings.
- Consider volunteering to do things for your party.
- Help a person running for an office, or anything that might help.
- Be ready to get out of your comfort zone and do something.
- Consider running for office yourself. There are a number of local elected positions you could run for and make a real difference.
In this process, you will find something that excites your passion. You need to really feel good about your commitment to help the country at any level.
If you don't try, consider how you will answer to your loved ones when they ask how we got in this situation in the first place. There has been several generations now of people who are not involved or engaged in the political process. We have only us to blame for whatever your perception of the current situation.
